Valve clearance on the GT 990 engine - Page 4 - Ziller Electric Inc

Just wanted to let everyone know, gen. starts quicker and smoother than before. As stated previously, the valve lash on 3 of 4 was tight. Set lash so .005 was a no go. I liked the reference to sliding the feeler gauge into the middle of a phonebook, good reference to us do it selfers. I am going to tighten the valve covers slightly more, noticed a little oil blow out around the valve covers, don't have an inch torque wrench to set to specs. Can't believe it is that critical. As long as you don't do the BUBBA TIGHT as someone elequently posted.

defintely not BUBBA TIGHT. Do make sure gasket is in place. Not much clearence between rocker arm and valve cover.
